頹唐邋遢的哈伯（Chance A. Rearden 飾）曾經(jīng)是某個名噪一時的兒童秀主持人，但他早已不復(fù)當(dāng)年的輝煌，節(jié)目收視率持續(xù)走低，哈伯則自暴自棄，飲酒作樂，任意妄為，甚至搞砸節(jié)目的錄制。最終，他失去了這份干了半輩子的工作。在此之后，他打電話找來自己的粉絲以及唯一好友——剛剛通過醫(yī)生考試的青年德文（Wade F.
